Last night I was sitting by the fire watching video tutorials for lighting. I noticed the dogs were all starting to settle down and get cozy.
The fire in the fireplace was burning pretty good and Harley was laying on the pillow in front of it. I decided to grab the camera and get a picture or two. The image that I had in my head was of a dog laying on the pillow with the flames from the fire in the background.
As the strobe fired, the flames seemed to disappear. I dialed down the exposure and the strobe thinking that maybe I could pick up some of the ambient light from the background and then be able to see the flames.
It seemed to work, but then I was picking up motion from the dogs. They wouldn’t sit still for more than a couple seconds.
Harley had become interested in what I was doing and she wouldn’t stay on the pillow so I called in my buddy Bitzer. As you can see from the look in his eyes, he’s ready to call it a night.
